I'm a fan of taking pre-existing worlds (fantasy or real) and using them as a backdrop for a story set 100 years on from the original work.
Before doing the Wizard of Oz one, I was toying with the idea of a parallel universe story in world where the War of the Worlds radio hoax actually happened and diverted World War 2.
Are there any fictional or alternate universes that you would like to explore?

For me, the Deus Ex universe. But then I'm a massive fan of the imagery and feel of Deus Ex: Human revolution.
I'd also like to say a Warhammer 40:000 type universe, but those can get really corny really fast if you don't have someone who really knows the universe.

yeah, either warhammer could be good. malazan book of the fallen is one of the most epic settings ever, but is unworkable as it's RIDICULOUSLY huge (10 main novels, all 800-1k pages long, and filled with absurd amounts of purposefully contradicting or incongruent lore (the authors are archaeologists...), PLUS spin-offs. shadowrun is good for cyberpunk plus magic fun, there's always some of the white wolf stuff like vampire, mage and changeling to fuck around with modern era stuff, and dune would be extremely interesting to play in. aside from that, i'd have to think about it

For me it's charlie and the chocolate factory.
It's some weird version of britain where socialism died, capitalism thrived and a chocolate maker is a genius inventor. Imagine what the rest of the world is like!
The oompa loompa islands where they have freaking oompa loompa escrima (OLMA) and governments have weaponised farts.

The Deus Ex one is definitely one of my favourites. Love that type of cyberpunk. Easily believable future, lot of corporate espionage type stuff, and a wonderful ethical question to tie it all off. The world they created for human revolution where the different classes were emerging between those who were augmented and those who weren't was one of the most captivating things in that game to me.
Also a Mass Effect Contact War type scenario I quite like. Those decades following First Contact and the fallout of having to deal with the knowledge we're not alone, as well as the rushed technological advancement.
Basically I like worlds with two qualities: Ethical questions, and technology transition periods/revolutions leading to those questions.

A Dune based RPG would be epic, but you'd have to get someone who REALLY knows their lore to do it.

Are there any fictional or alternate universes that you would like to explore? The Fallout world would be pretty sweet. I like post-apocalyptic stuff, so anything based on Fall Out, Mad Max, The Road. Maybe a post-apoc RPG based around realistic survival would be fun and challenging. I like dystopian stuff too - a Nineteen Eighty-four type thing would be interesting. Ties in with the above. Lovecraft. FTW. Obviously loads of source material and what not already. It's some weird version of britain where socialism died, capitalism thrived and a chocolate maker is a genius inventor. Weird version of Britain? Thought that had already happened?

Genuine survival would be cool. A lot of post apocalypse stuff taglines "survival" but really they're all about killing bandits. Something like State of Decay or this www.youtube.com/watch?v=bG-iUxJcoXcwould be cool.

The book, Roadside Picnic, which STALKER is based on, is definitely not bandit slaying madness. It's very different. The film too (Odd Soviet Sci-Fi film). The game is a bit like that, but there's so much other stuff going on that it's ok. Drinking vodka to avoid radiation poisoning and then getting into a fight is always hilarious. Dead of Winter!! I've been thinking of getting that. I wanted to get some type of board game as I couldn't find an RPG game to join (that's why I suggested the online RPG group to Sloth). I thought some of the board games might scratch the itch. Have to look at more reviews. Well I forgot about this: rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product/100243/STALKER--The-SciFi-Roleplaying-Gamewww.rpg.net/reviews/archive/15/15588.phtml

What about the Metro universe, if you can call it that?

What about the Metro universe, if you can call it that? Oh yeah, that came to my mind too. That would be a lot of fun to play. If someone wanted to GM the STALKER one, I'd be happy to buy the book (pdf) and pass it on. And I bet someone has made rules for Metro.
