As Boniface drops into his crouch and shoulder his rifle, shots crack out from off to your right. Most go wide but one takes Boniface in the side and knocks him to the ground. The soldier in the road, himself having dropped to a crouch, calls out"NCR soldiers, drop the guns!"Boniface loses 12HP (current is 5)Flanking soldiers get a surprise round as its basically an ambush and the other guys failed perception checks. Didn't give Boniface one because he's busy aiming at road dude. First shots missed, surprise round means another attack and one of them critted. For shiggles I rolled with the damage system I use for you guys, and Boniface died all 6 times I rolled so I'm rather happy I decided to give enemies damage die only and not the d20 like you get

Stan drops his gun, stands up slowly with his hands up and shouts "Howdy y'all! Imagine we're lucky meeting up with you. We're a caravan, we don't want any trouble."

I'll be honest, can't be arsed to write dialogue. So we'll speed things up a bit The soldiers are a bit reluctant to believe you but after searching the caravan and talking/interrogating you, and beign aware of Chet from previous travels, they leave you free to do as you wish. Boniface is taken to a medical tent and is going to be stuck there until the morning. Will is seen to by a medic and the wound in his leg is patched up, leaving him free for the night along with Stan.
The Rest Stop is a relatively large space spread out across a footbridge over what used to be an underpass. Currently doubling as a small patrol base for the NCR, buts of it are off limits to you, but it still has a couple of merchants dodering about making trade off the soldiers, and there is a bar set up in the open with soldiers, traders and a few other travellers milling about in groups drinking, throwing dice and playing caravan. You're told there's no tents free for you, but are shown a space between a couple where you can tie up the brahmin (who from now on I'm going to call mindy because I find it funny) and lay out your sleeping packs.
From the questioning by the patrol and the snippets of chatter you hear you gather a coupe of groups of bandits have been causing some trouble for the last couple days and it has the soldiers here worried. The area is meant to be safe, relatively speaking, but the sudden increase in raids and the equipment they're finding on bodies makes them think they've come up from the South, which means the gaps in the line holding the Vipers and Legion back are getting worse. You quickly realise the trip down this road is going to get a lot harder quite soon.
So you have a night to chill out and rest. Whether you want to interact with anyone or anything here is up to you.

Zero: Introduce my folks? You mean show off you're a vault dweller? Sorry, bit confused.
Bozza: The bar sits pretty much in the middle of the camp as its the only source of entertainment around. A square wooden bar is the centre of what you'd call the 'pub area' with a few tables and odd chairs scattered about it as they're dragged around by different groups sitting together. As far as drinking buddies go you have a few soldiers sat around the bar in small groups or alone. A group of 3 men in civilian clothing are gathered around a small table chatting drinking and smoking away. Another table has a caravan game going strong with a couple of traders waiting to take their turn with the winner. The largest and loudest group consists of a group of people (civilians, traders, caravaneers, etc) watching and betting on the two soldiers standing a bit further out from the other tables and holding boxes in their hands. Age old tradition of critter fighting.

No worries. I only asked because I don't think vaults were a big deal in New Vegas? They were different, but I'm not sure it was head turning as such.

Hey sorry, typo born of late night. Introduce myself to folks. Don't tell them I'm a VD. :] There's a mix of responses. Some people tell you to fuck yourself, some simply ignore you. Most are welcoming though. Travellers come through the place all the time and most appreciate the chance to rest and relax somewhere safe. You find yourself being asked a bit about yourself and why you're out here, and asked generally for any good stories you may have to tell over a drink.

Will walks up to the bar and waits to get a drink. If he can, he'll ask the bar man if there's anything interesting going on.
