Party: Naughty Susan Smiley Jack Bubba Elvis 3000
You party flees along the canyon edge just as the soldiers open fire behind you. After a short burst you hear the commands among the soldiers "Emerald block - follow party south and head them off before the Reach bridge! Amethyst block take transport on a 30 minute delay. Send word back to Dicksyland of escapees."
You run, you can hear the soldiers keeping pace on the other side of the bridge until finally the fields end and you are swallowed by the forest.
Running further still you come another rope bridge (going south) across another section of the canyon that cuts across the one you have been following (running west ward). You see far below that a river has carved this canyon and flows westward.
Will you cross this bridge with little cover from the soldiers who still chase you on the opposite side (of the southward traveling canyon) or go west along this river's canyon to avoid them?

"Fuck!" Susan curses. He can hear the soldiers getting closer. How many? All armed, but where does he go? Over the bridge?
Have we managed to get ahead of the soldiers taking the transport?! He thinks long and hard. Of all the companions he could have gone with, he almost wishes he had stuck with Conrad. At least he seemed practical.
"Quick, follow the river!" Susan hisses. He whips out his picks and hacks at the ropes on the bridge just enough to make them weaker (or so he hopes) before following the river. Hopefully they'll take the wrong route and fall.

Smiling Jack follows, a childish giggle sporadically escaping from him as he runs.

You head westward following the river and slow begin to go down a hill until the land is flat and you are ground level with the river.
The river continues west and flows through vast poppy fields but also splits off to the north (presumably back to the yellow brick road), blocking the path in front of you. The river is fast flowing and easily neck height.
Which way will you go? Cross the river or travel back to the yellow brick road?

Susan pauses, listening for the sounds of their pursuers. He washes his face quickly in the running water and takes a quick sip.
"Jack? ...Bubba? Which way now?"

Susan swallows. I can swim, he tells himself, I just don't like it. I look like a stranded turtle being mounted by a hedgehog when I swim.
He dives in.

The river is strong and you all swallow a lot of water until you cross it. There is a vast poppy field both north and west and you can see a mountain not too far in the distance. All the poppies petals are closed and they are sticky with a black powder.
